Nurofen - How long can you take for?

So I have bursitis in my ankle from an impact injury, when I take nurofen plus the pain goes away. I know the leaflets and guidelines say not to take for more than 3 days, but when I asked the pharmacy assistant she said they can be taken ongoing. I wasn’t too convinced and am just checking if anyone has advice on longer…
