Hi all I have being trying to get a heavy barrel 17hmr for my quad. No luck, but I have a volquartsen barrel sitting doing nothing. So was thinking of getting work done to fit the quad. Who is good at rebarreling and close to Tipperary. Would need milling machine also.

Let me know how you get on with this and if you find anyone in Ireland if not you might have to get a dealer to send it to someone like tannyoky in the North and then on to a gunsmith in the UK I was looking to get a steyr tactical elite rebarreld and was on to a gunsmith in the UK about it and this is the way he said it would have to be done just have to win the lotto now first before I rebarrel the steyr 🤣 not going to be cheap unfortunately

The Sako should be straight forward enough as it's a push fit no threading or anything. Does need a flat spot milled on the barrel where it goes into the receiver though.

Ya I know the sako I actually bought the older p94 finfire recently the quad barrels fit straight into them also.

I Owned for about a week one time a p94s with a lilja 22lr quad barrel in it I was going to do the sort of opposite to you i was going to get someone to thread the lilja barrel for a cz 452 action but didn't bother.

Have you tried Joe melia in roscommon don't no if he'd be able to mill a barrel tho.

Threading would be simple enough. Thread spec are universal enough.
A push fit is proprietary. Easy to turn/mill if you have the shop drawings. But no idea if they are easy to get.

I haven't tried anyone yet said I would ask for recommendations here first. As the lad I would of used John Greene is not doing work on firearms anymore. It's being years since I needed any work doing hence why I don't know who is doing it now

Yeah I don't know if their available but I would give them the original barrel and action so my thinking is they would take measurements from these

If they had another barrel right beside it for measuring off would that work I often thought about asking and engineering crowd about rebarreling my steyr and if they had the old one beside it could they just make I direct copy. Obviously they have to have a firearms dealers license to do it but would it work

worth a shot for sure. Could also use the existing barrel as a jig with the right set up

Fabian Connolly of Fabguns up in Letrim,or the gunsmiths in Ardee sports Co Louth would be a good bet for that kind of work.Could also give Small Arms Services down in Cork a call,Phil might be able to do or know someone who can.
