Irish names/placenames when using android/google maps etc

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone else has come across this problem and whether there's a solution. I find that when I'm searching for names or placenames my samsung phone will bring back random english names with no problem, for example, when using predictive text.

So you try to type in a placename and something similar will come up which might be a placename somewhere in Britain or elsewhere which has a name similar to the one I'm typing in. However, the actual Irish placename is not recognised. It's as if we don't exist in computerland. Yet all other placenames in the world are recognised. For instance, I type in Glen….and I'll get suggestions such as Glencoe etc. which exists in Scotland but no Glendalough. Another one is Kilmarnock which is recognised by not Portmarnock. Portobello because there's one in London.

Now it may be my ignorance. If so, I stand corrected. For information I use the 3x4 keyboard with Swype on Samsung Galaxy s10 (this may be a factor as the 3X4 keyboard seems to be old hat but I like it!). I've noticed this on several apps such as Whatsapp, Facebook etc. It's less of a problem on Google as with live search it already suggests placenames but probably defaults to the English/american ones. Just curious if there's a way to change this by default or why this would be the case Surely there would be localisation for the Irish market where our dictionary would have all placenames and Irish name spellings too (haven't even mentioned those!).
