Generator changeover switch for powering house from EV (emergencies only!)

    With the aftermath of the current storm, I was wondering what the legalities/practicalities are of running the basic circuits in my home from my car. The EV6 comes with a 77 kWh battery and a 3.5kW Vehicle to Load adaptor, which I figure could run my boiler, fridge, freezer and lighting for a good few days if needed.


    My thinking was to install a generator changeover switch and have a heavy duty lead doing out to the car. In the event of an outage I could switch off unnecessary circuits on the consumer unit, plug in the car and flip the switch. Does this sound viable, or am I just mad? I do have a solar and battery install, if that complicates things. I also wondered if I could just charge the house battery from the car overnight and just run off that during the day?

    I appreciate any work would have to be done by a RECI certified spark.
