Question about Revenue.ie

Revenue.ie isn't exactly easy for me to use, but that's another discussion.

I have a question: I worked in Ireland until beginning of May 2024 and would like to claim the taxes back as I have moved out of the country.

Looking for my statement, I find the following information which confuses me as I didn't claim any unemployment benefit anywhere. Any ideas on what do do?

Preliminary End of Year result not available

You cannot proceed as an unemployment repayment claim is currently being processed.

The above would indicate you have a claim in with Revenue already to claim back any tax due from when you were unemployed/not working in Ireland. Did you attempt to claim this money back last year at any point?

It is not related to DSP unemployment payment, if that's what you are querying.

This would concern the year 2023. I have only worked for 2 months during that year and that was in Ireland. Nowhere else did I work, nor did I claim any unemployment benefits, neither in Ireland nor overseas.

I suspect that revenue.ie would only pay me the taxes paid if I could prove that I have recieved something somewhere else in another country. However as I neither have had an income in that other country nor do I have any kind of access to tax authorities, as I didn't pay anything there, there is nothing to hand in to revenue.ie.

    Thus it's a catch 22.

As I said, it does not mean you claimed any unemployment benefits. It means you have a claim in with Revenue to review your tax paid for 2023 and see if you are due any refunds.

Does any of this below ring a bell, and did you complete a claim for 2023?

Thanks for all the answers. I've done that, but haven't heard anything back.

I have recently submitted a claim for 2024 when I've left work in the beginning of May and left Ireland as well, - no unemployment anywhere claimed and no income since. The form I supplied was a p50. We'll see how that goes. Then I'll tackle 2023.
