Remote not working properly

I have a Philips 32PFL5403D/10 LCD a good few years . I spent many years not watching any TV and when I started again the the remote won't work properly . Sometimes it will. Have to keep pressing, sometimes it will work a bit but not go all the way to the channel needed . Sometimes have to use buttons on TV to switch to the bluray input

Changed batteries, cleaned the sensor on TV and the sending one. It flashes white light in my phone camera . Someone online said it should be red. I have another remote for the working bluray and the flashing is the same .

Can I get a universal remote for this telly ?

One4all remotes are very good in my experience, if you go to their Web site, put in you tv model number and select a remote type, for 1-4 devices, it will give a code for the remote to operate your device.

I was wondering is it the remote or the telly sensor. The bluray and Saorview remotes work . Do they use the telly or do they have their own sensors ?

I got a one4all but it only works on some of the options . It won't turn down the sound on a dvd but it will pause, play, show menu etc.

I would try to clean it as Safe Electricity said. I get my remote from remote-control-world.eu if I can't find them anywhere nearer. We have bought 2 from them and they both worked better than the once that came with the tv or hifi.

Thought this was yet another Working From Home thread. 😁

I would open the old one up and clean the inside of the buttons and the many contacts on the circuit board.

You will be amazed at the amount of gunk that has migrated inside!
