I would say no you do not need one. Practically every website now a days uses something called Transport Layer Security(TLS), which encrypts your session between your browser and the website. As a result no-one on the same network segment as you can see your traffic.

A VPN is used when you want to hide your traffic from your internet provider, if you are doing something that goes against their terms of service or if you want to use web services in another country. For a regular user like yourself, no you dont need one.

Who told you you need one? For what security reasons?

For normal everyday stuff. No you don't. Do a good scan with the inbuilt virus scanner on your PC and you'd be better off. Don't do private stuff on public wifi. VPN would be useful if you had to do such things but it's unlikely you do.

The main reason people have one is for accessing Media. Cuz the world is a fuked up greedy place.

Alot of the niche forums on here are dead now, use the main ones.
