Bad wall prep or bad paint? New paint scratching easily

    Hi,

we have recently installed warm boards in the house, leaving us to decorate from bare plastered walls. The walls are plastered over 6 months (plenty of time to dry).

I followed the direction of painting a base of coat with slightly watered down white paint , before painting the standard 2 coats. We have done 1 room in a dark green, but anything the wall is knocked into slightly, it marks and takes off some of the paint. I checked the scratches closer and I can see the white base coat underneath, so it doesn’t seem to be the problem. The paint is Vlaspar from BandQ in a Matt finish. I would have thought most paints now can withstand some knocks so I’m wondering have I prepared the wall wrong? I have never decorated from bare plastered walls. Just to note that I used a paint sprayer with the base coat, but as I mentioned, it has adhered well.

    Any thoughts on this?
