Would you have any trouble licencing a less practical gun just for fun?

Does anyone have trouble for licencing a "fun" gun. Guns that do not serve much purpose for the task at hand but something to play around with

Say if you already own a target pistol but want a walter ppk clone because you grew up watching too many bond flims and to use something different on the range.

Or on the clay ground getting a sxs when you already own a o/u just to practise with a different style of shooting or guage.

Getting a 22 pump action for target shooting when you already own a more practical target rifle. Etc etc....

I wouldn’t put down “just for fun” as the reason, but as long as you can align it to some dedicated reason it should be fine (regardless as to whether you other hun also aligns).
eg you can have a O/U. Perfectly fine to get a SXS (or another O/U) that you intend to use for clays (or hunting specifically).

Similar a pump action has a different mechanism that could be an advantage in certain events.

If using primary gun for target shooting, second one could be for another type/discipline of shooting or backup to main gun as justification. Such as Iron sigh shooting and then another for shooting with a scope and aids. 2 different guns 2 different setups for 2 different disciples requiring them

or if hunting, a o/u is ideal for clays and sxs is more suited to rough shooting. Also a o/u or sxs is a pheasant gun and the semi auto is your duck gun requiring a more robust gun.

its a different tool for a different job. a 243 is a good deer and fox round, but cant shoot bunnies with it as be nothing left so a 22 is used to cull rabbits for the freezer

For Fun is why we do it, the "Reason" is why they allow us…

Collection is also a valid and accepted reason for firearms licencing purposes, so historically significant firearms, etc would be eligible to licence for collection and occasional shooting.

Given they are still classed as a firearm(stupidly), albeit on authorisation vs a licence do you not still need to provide a good reason for the authorisation, ie collection, gundog training, etc?

YYes . You still need to state a reason. Collecting or reenactment. Reenactment and film making are my stated reasons
