Is it illegal?

Neighbour has started parking the cab of their artic lorry in the estate, going back to summer 2024. Four wheels wholly up on the footpath. He leaves at all kinds of hours in the middle of the night 2am, 3am, 4am... Making **A LOT** of noise with his truck.

Is this something you can report to the guards/council/some haulage regulator? Surely as part of a haulage operators licence you must have adequate parking at your place of business for your fleet? 🤔

If its a public estate, the parking on the footpath might be enough for a ticket.

Your awful person man (to be fair i bet your women) probably only bring truck home so he saves time driving to yard in morning and evening. Like were is truck yard 🤔 Like is it hour away it be awful if mess this up for him that he can't bring truck home

His place of work is a 10 minute drive away 🙄 He's parking a truck cab on a footpath showing no regard for pedestrians, wheelchair users or those with buggys, so to be honest the last thing I'm concerned about is his commute to a yard.

There is a lot of talk on where to report here… In my opinion council would be most likely to act, probably only on the parking on footpath issue unless there is a by-law in place…

But have you tried expressing your concerns to the neighbour directly? This would be my first course of action.

Yes, I've tried speaking to him. He's rude, obnoxious and dismissive and to be honest I was glad to get away from him. I'll ring the council.

what county do you live in? it might be possible to find out if the council already have a law about it.

Kildare/Meath border area, so it's tricky to figure out who exactly I need to contact.

I know which side I am, but Meath council is saying he's on Kildare side and Kildare are saying he's on Meath side. The estate straddles both counties. I just think neither want to get involved.

Most Councils won't deal with this stuff. Here in DLR, their parking wardens will only deal with paid parking issues, because protecting the Council's income stream is far more important than the safety of vulnerable road users.

Gardai may be a better option. You could try reporting it through their portal. It's a bit harder for them to ignore these reports than to ignore you at the public counter.

Planning Permission maps will show which county the problem is in.
