So just a quick update from my own locality,One of the worst falls of snow experienced ever. Majority have no power,water,phone coverage and of course WiFi. Cars that were abandoned sat night and yesterday are still at the side of the road. The only mode of transport to get around safely are jeeps and tractors. Not a sign of any council staff to try clear roads.

The only people trying to clear the roads are farmers. They are also driving to nearby villages and towns to pick up essential supplies. My mobile data only works the odd time so I can't even upload pictures. Looks like there is another few bleak days ahead around here before the thaw. I recorded 9 inches of snow,a neighbour on higher ground recorded 18 inches.

The gutters of a few houses have been destroyed with the weight of snow on them. A lot of roofs on cattle sheds have also collapsed.

light snow in north Ros, will need a good disturbance to give much accumulations as many showers are dying out in intensity after a short time

Wow what a 24hrs we've had, I was away from Cork so got to see quite a bit of snow. Cork city itself did very poorly though 10 miles up the road was covered. Chances exist tonight especially as colder uppers move in. Lots to keep us watching over the next 24hrs.

Amazing to see how it differs from just an area of a few sq kms. Maynooth got a good sheeting while the likes of lucan, blanch etc got feck all.

Where are you giveitholly sounds horrendous?

Why can't the army be sent in to clear the area if its that bad? They helped out in certain areas in 2018, can't see why it can't be done again.

I know you all have limited power, phones etc but hound the local T.D's and councillors. Not like the whole country is affected, so they should be people available to help out those who need it.

I do recall snow falling in my aunties village in Bhoolpur. It was quite a spectacle seeing the snow falling and on the most auspicious day of Makar Sankranti. By morning, the snow had melted, but gossip and confusion lingered—some called it a blessing, others a curse, but I say the heavens just wanted to remind us that miracles, or at least very strange weather, can happen anywhere!

Exactly,surely snow ploughs from different areas of the country that are not in use could be deployed to the worst affected areas. By Sunday evening a plan should of been put in place to go first thing this morning.

The army were in Wexford the day after storm Emma so don't see why they aren't in affected areas this time.

I'm in Dublin and surrounded by piles of Brennans bread, toilet roll and wine that I stocked up on in preparation on Saturday. Silly me.

View from Fenit back towards the Stacks Mts mid morning here in Kerry, quite fresh with lots of showers of rain, sleet and hail. Temp fluctuating , currently 4.3C and down as low as 2C in some of the showers, thaw evident the nearer to the coast but even up 50 or 100 ft on a hill and more lying.

A light covering of snow here in Antrim. The cold temperatures are making a return after a couple of milder days in the north

Don’t forget to be mindful of frozen pipes those of you expecting very low temperatures in the coming days, worth keeping the heating on at a low temp overnight. I am about to go out and cover wrap the outside water tap and have salt ready for the steps tomorrow.

Honestly starting to look like a bit of a nothing burger for my neck of the woods (East Cork).

Sleety snow yesterday with none settling, we didn't even manage a frost last night. An unremarkable 3 degrees today. Highs of 3-4 the next few days and lows just below zero, meh.

The wind has picked up alright. It will help push showers further inland, but I'd prefer the wind to becoming from the North rather than the North West to lessen the chance of modification from the Atlantic. It would be a sickener to go from this heavy snow to sleet and lose the snow cover.

Good coverage on the six one news showing the extent of this cold spell - how absolutely grim to be stuck with no electricity and no water -.has happened here I think in 2010 - I am hoping the temps don't drop as low as predicted!

You'll get a couple of cms of lying snow during the night. Little thaw next few days with temps getting very low at night. Make sure to come on tomorrow morning if I'm right

Yeah was looking at that, they were so lucky that it did not happen during the night. Some weight in the snow, very high water content. will be a huge loss to the town, hopefully they will build bigger and better.

Driving around today and floods in fields and waterlogged roads, drove through a couple of minor floods too ( single car along the middle of the road at at time ). Water pouring down the hills and out of gates and snow heaped at the side of the road not letting it flow away into the drains.

Hopefully not too bad getting into Tralee tomorrow morning and no freezing rain
