Ah yeah, as I said, not having a go. Just interesting to see how Google can be fooled. Garbage in garbage out as we used to say. AI is not going to take over the world. 🤣

Just a folow up here, the other rear wheel one went. I was thinking…it's a while ago now can't remember exatly how i worked the little socket wrench to turn it…I neededn't have worried. Those bloody soft wheel nuts. Spent the guts of an hour removing the tinfoil cover from one that had rounded. Was grand once the 18mm was exposed underneath. I didn't find them great the last time so purchased new ones. The new ones however seem to be too similar to my old ones.

Didn't even get to the wheel sensor…to be continued tomorrow!

Edit: Coudln't stick a screwdriver through the top of new wheel nuts so they've passed the test! Will switch them all out.

I'd just leave them in place and get an 18.5mm socket

The 18mm socket was fine but I don't want to be at the side of the road some day trying to remove the cover from one of those nuts. I might not have a hammer and screwdriver at hand, so would take a lot longer than the 45 mins spent doing it yesterday. The guy in the youtube video was a lot quicker but I think mine was so deformed it wouldn't just pop off so i'd to chissel away. I'll change them all over, since I have the new nuts bought anyway. I was just worried I'd bought the same type of nuts again but relived thy were solid. I can do them at my "lesuire" one wheel at a time.

Yeah fair enough I just didn't bother with mine, the outer shell swells and becomes a 19.5mm, if it comes off the nut is an 18.5mm, and you can get a double sided socket with those 2 sizes

I've stripped the torx trying to get it out :-( Trying to figure out an option that could work in such limited space. Have an extractor but can't get my impact gun anywhere near it to use that. Can't even get a swing on a hammer

Give the torx a good clean where the bit mates up to, or go 1 size up if it's badly rounded, long extension and tap the bit into the bolt head before trying to turn it

No joy, even with extensions I couldn't get any space to swing a hammer. Tried to drill it out using a 90 degree drill adapter but didn't get anywhere either so I'll have to bring it down to the garage :-( I had really good grip initally on the torx head before the rounding but it wouldn't budge and my efforts ended up rounding it rather than twisting.

Mechanic ended up taking off the wheel hub, he was like "Please don't try to do this yourself again"….OH well I got the first one ok…I def would try it again but maybe not completelty strip the torx. He installed the hexhead and sensor I supplied. Carged €65 so wasn't too bad!

    Glad it's sorted.
