Loan offer application

hi good day just want to ask your thoughts in my current situation. we are on the process of applying for loan offer, also deposited for the house we want, we are currently short for couple of thousands but is certain that before the house is finished we can come up with the amount we are short of. broker advised to make up story that my dad will be covering for the amount "gift" but later will ammend the application once we finally saved up the lacking amount. did anyone had the same experience, was your loan offer application approved? thanks in advance.
