Where Do You Get Your Limerick News?

When I lived in other towns and cities there were always whatsapp groups/Facebook groups/Reddit/Boards etc for every little thing, from videos of assaults to pictures of bad parking and everything in between, that kind of stuff. There was a lot of moaning and lunatics but at least you kept on top of what was going on and even got to know people.

Limerick seems to be very lacking in this kind of thing, 2 years living here now and I just dont see it, zero Whatsapp groups, FB groups are just 6 month old ads for driveway powerwashing and furniture sales etc, Im obviously missing something, anyone got any tips?

There's 2 limerick centric groups on Facebook, "limerick now" and "limericks word on the street"

They're a bit opinionated but the news is all there

The Limerick branches of Order of Malta and Red Cross are quite active on Facebook with any duties they're covering or public events they're running

If you're looking to get local info I'd follow the 4 of them

God all mighty. Are you after any positive news by any chance?

    "Lacking"

I would call Limerick not having that pitchfork and curtain twitching bullsht a positive.

We do have some good non toxic places like Pigtown Times or Limerick.ie for events in Limerick.

Apologies for the off-topic question. Does anyone know when the supermarket under construction on Roches Street near Colbert Station will open its doors to visitors?

God knows. It's one of the slowest builds ever.

I was talking to an Aldi employee who is moving in there when it opens and the plan to open there has been moved out a couple of times at this stage.

Edited to add, I heard from another source that in the site preparation stage they found a HT ESB Cable that wasn't on any map and that delayed them a few weeks while the cable was exposed and made safe/moved, something similar to the cable at the OPW Wall in Dublin 😀
