    Great day.

I'm one of the not happy with the last month dudes. But , just hate losing . Like proper hate Liverpool losing any game...

But yesterday was special, must be moving for any football fan to look in at the connection between the squad , the fans , the city, the past , the community, the social responsibility of the club.

I loved watching Tent play , have never seen the passing he did by anyone , happy for him to take on a new challenge, owes us nothing. Nice reconnecting with fans in his fantastic 45 mins and celebrations.

Looking forward now to what Arnie does next , I think we all know the squad needs a part rebuild, as mad as that sounds, as we just won league easy .

I hope this is not a negative and people agree..But I don't think Arnie will want the Klopp thing around anymore. Was great yesterday and all handled well.

But for everyone time for less of that.

Pool most successful team in Premier League...a good 30 year wait for that ...

Absolutely. 30 years of hurt never stopped us dreaming…

Those 30 lean years were a very large span of my life! Here's hoping the good times can keep rolling for a few more years yet.

Really hope it works out for him. He’s a good un. Best wishes Caoimhín.

He's never been #1 but Kelleher played a much bigger role in our trophies than most backup GKs.

He won us the 21/22 and 23/24 League Cups as our starting keeper, and started 10 PL games in this year's campaign.

If Nunez goes, we are going for Hugo Ekitike according to reports.

    Gonna be a wild summer…

Aston Villa reportedly need a new keeper this summer, as do Bayer Leverkusen. Both would be good moves for Kelleher.

Cannot deny that Kelleher deserves to play 1st team football elsewhere. He's done fantastic at the club and should be given a chance. Best of luck to him in finding the right club.

Liverpool could send €100m to Leverkusen for Wirtz and get it back in separate transfer deals involving Kelleher, Quansah/Gomez, Morton and Elliott.

Going to be insane up there today 🤣 Nobody does it better. 🔴⚪️

He's a true professional and a top keep. So unfortunate the best keeper in the world is in front of him otherwise he's a starter. Best of luck to him

Apologies as I'm sure it's been asked, and answered numerous times, but will the LFC Youtube channel be showing the parade in it's entirety? or if not, where will be showing it? I presume Sky Sports (News) won't be showing the full 5 or so hours?

Be curious to know how we'd be using him.

Am I right in saying he's not really a replacement for Diaz / Nunez?

Saw some stuff about Slot's pitch to Wirtz that suggested he'd play as a No 10 - so possibly competing with Dom or maybe we sometimes play a 4 man box midfield that we saw in a few matches and they both start?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,941 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Not a like for like change but he can definitely fill in a lot of those winger/attack midfield roles. Mentioned it before but he reminds me a lot of Coutinho.

I dunno if we'd pay 100million+ for a player just to compete with someone else that we have who is also pretty good. If we're willing to spend that much he must be someone we want as a first choice.

Which to me sounds like we'll be changing up our formation for next season?

I was being kind to Dom with my choice of verb there.

Could be change of formation or could be a sign that we need to both improve our goals/assists return from the No10 position, and Dom shouldn't feel too comfortable about his starting role.

Although we'd sorely miss his covering of the ground I'd guess…

I see him as a traditional #10 - I see elements of Liam Brady and Michel Platini in his play but that's me showing my age. The closest Premier League player to compare him to would be a young Kevin De Bruyne when he joined Man City from Wolfsburg. In terms of contemporary Premier League players, he's got more versatility, better close control and plays sharper passes than Cole Palmer.

For Leverkusen he had a free role, playing in the half spaces on the left and right. He doesn't have the raw speed to be a winger but he looks better than any of our wide players at cutting in from the wide areas. He's two footed which keeps defenders on their toes, he definitely favours his right foot when shooting with power but he can also use his left.

He'll give Slot a lot of tactical options in the final third. With the likes of Kerkez getting up and down the left flank, Wirtz could play as an inside forward on that side, a false #9 or a #10.

He'll have to improve his physical strength to adapt to the league but he's one of the best players of his generation.

Id say there is going to be a formation change, and going to be very interesting where Wirtz fits but they obviously have a clear idea. Wirtz can play 10, LW, RW, false 9.

I'm not sure if we'll see a striker if Wirtz is coming in, could be destined for a false 9 or a 424 with Szobo and Wirtz central.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,515 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

Ya, if Wirtz does sign it'll be to offer tactically flexibility. He can go false 9 with Salah and Gakpo/Diaz out wide, or drop back slightly and play as a secondary No.10, this would allow (say Salah and Gakpo squeeze in closer to the box) which would then also give room for Frimpong and new LB to get down the channels around the outside.

Playing as a secondary No.10 would also help our forward press, which has being by far our weakest link this season. Szobo too often having to do the running of 3 players at times, an extra body beside him of the talent of Wirtz would be some help!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,883 ✭✭✭✭rob316

If we dont sign a striker I can understand why, the market is so underwhelming. I see links to Hugo Ekitke but prices are like 100m, its mental. Wirtz is one of the best in the world in his position and we'll be paying that.
