    Hi,

I'm taking up carpet here in prep for laying a laminate floor. I'm wondering can I reuse the carpet underlay that's already down for the laminate floorboards or will this cause problems later on. It would save me a lot of time if I could but don't cause heartaches in years to come

    Thanks

Id say the carpet underlay will be to thick for laminate and will cause issues down the line. Also you would be better off lifting the underlay to check there are no staples or nails in the floorboards as this will be an issue with the laminate boards.

Laying new underlay will be the quickest part of the job.

No don't - you'll end up punching a hole in the laminate every time you drop something and any heavy objects will leave a depression.

The click system will also fail over time, due to too much bounce in the floor. Don't do it.
