Agreed. Seems to be some rather overly sensitive American posters, almost looking to find offence where there's none, I just ignore and move on.

Really like Bluesky though, many former twitter followers/following have joined. X is an utter cesspit now, I really hope more accounts such as Virgin, an post, Dublin bus etc join though.

    • Our priority is to get to the point where we can build an independent ATProto relay that can support archival and the full firehose. This relay will be hosted in Europe and we are in early discussions with European cloud providers. We want to get this up and running as soon as possible but we want it to be sustainable (yes we still like that term).

It would be positive to have European Based social platform!

Not posting specifically about 'Bluesky' above, as I got a kindly reminder from the MODS to notify me that I was over sharing posts about it. I have agreed to Dial it Back! Will still credit sources of information on other threads/forums.

And as I'm posting again in this thread, now would be a good time to post the below!

Disclaimer:- I'm just an end-user of the Bluesky platform,
have no real life association with any developers of it!

    • NOT in receipt of finical rewards or other incentives for posting about it.
    • The only reward is hopefully assisting others in transitioning and using the platform effectively.
    • If your viewing/opening this 'eXudos/Bluesky' thread you can expect to have people talking about it!

    Regards

    John

I will take the risk and share the below, since it's almost a full month since the last post!

JAY GRABER | Bluesky's CEO on the Future of Social Media | SXSW LIVE ~ Timestamped start of interview.

Join Jay Graber, Bluesky’s CEO, for a conversation on how we can take control over our experience online.

Interesting interview, to understand Bluesky or AT Protocol.

Micheál Martin Taoiseach get's a mention, to be appearing in SXSW later in the week.

    My own thoughts: -

Miss Jay Graber is an interesting lady and makes a big change from having males as leaders of social media?

I believe we are watching the beginnings of paradigm shift in how we interact with Social Media!

Other cool developments on the AT Protocol!

    • ThreadSky is a community-driven platform that brings Reddit-style discussions to Bluesky
    • Flashes an Instagram alternative built on top of the Bluesky social network
    • Videos can now be uploaded up to 3 minutes long on Bluesky.
    • Chat Request screen to allow or deny DM requests from users

Note:- See disclaimer in the post before this one!

Been avoiding posting on this thread, because I didn't want to be over sharing!

Bluesky’s Quest to Build Nontoxic Social Media

^ ~ Archive.ph link! ~ Published in the print edition of the April 14, 2025, issue, with the headline “Social Butterfly.”

Long article which goes into depth about Jay Graber, yet to read it all myself.

"X and Facebook are governed by the policies of mercurial billionaires. Bluesky’s C.E.O., Jay Graber, says that she wants to give power back to the user."

interesting to see how much of 'irish twitter' has decamped to bluesky; based on a post which was posted to both twitter and bluesky about an 'AI tour guide' being trialled by dublin councils.

    https://bsky.app/profile/meadoak.bsky.social/post/3lqzrq6ncak23

the bluesky post got 50 times as many replies than the twitter one did, and over 30 times as many quotes.

(the reaction was overwhelmingly negative FWIW - both the twitter and bluesky posts have been removed).

I saw that post. It has to be borne in mind that Bluesky members seem to have a strong anti-AI sentiment. And negative sentiment tends to generate more traction (the core of the Social Media problem!). So it didn't surprise me one bit to see that post blow up on Bluesky.

I'm 99.9% on Bluesky now but I do have some serious concern about how unwelcome contrarian views seem to be on many topics.

Why is it so hard to tag you here?

"Bluesky members seem to have a strong anti-AI sentiment. And negative sentiment tends to generate more traction (the core of the Social Media problem!)."

I hope the 'Anti-AI' doesn't have a negative effect on my admitted use of an AI Search engine (https://www.perplexity.ai/) to help build my latest ATProtoViewer (browser based PWA), that I have created with its help since early May.

Also good to see others posting in this thread again.

    Is bluesky usage in decline?

Not linking it on purpose don't want to be in breach of Boards guidelines on self promotion and hoping that mentioning it is not doing so?

    Bluesky finally enabled notifications system!

    image.png

Haven't got around to experimenting with them yet, was otherwise engaged with other matters and also working on updates to my own related PWA's and Chrome Browser Extension.

    Saw this on Twitter,

    17599843083985393338540618982058.jpg

Didn't know you could add labels to other people's accounts, I know it's a thing on Reddit but that's only tagging them for yourself, not universal.

Wonder what the process is to add tags, or get them removed?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Arts Moderators, Sports Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 54,276 CMod ✭✭✭✭magicbastarder

I've never seen any accounts tagged like that, and it'd be a hot mess if you could tag other people and those tags show up for everyone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,905 ✭✭✭donspeekinglesh

The labels are from Moderation lists. They're lists that people create and anyone can subscribe to (Settings → Moderation → Moderation lists) and you can choose to block/hide/label those on the list.

So you'll only see the labels if you're subscribed to the relevant list

I set up an account around about when this thread was started, if I could remember my login details it'd be great

@Quantum Erasure If you remember the email you signed up with, use the forgotten password feature?

But I think you may not be serious wanting the details?

Without subscribing to the lists you also see what labels have been put on an account with clearsky.

I wouldn't mind logging in to have a look at the moderation lists, might be a good place to find people to follow....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 9,167 ✭✭✭corkie

Moderation Lists (for muting/blocking) and Labels, are two separate things.

See all labels for account in screenshot above: -

    https://clearsky.app/matthewblott.bsky.social/labeled

Click on 'Lists On' to see the lists the account is on.

Moderation lists as any joe soap can create them, are not as widely used as some people think.

It is a trust issue, would you trust a random person to curate your feed, list owners can put anyone on them for their own petty reason's.

I don't subscribe to any myself, but maintain my own lists for blocking accounts across my alt's.

    Edit:-

Here is an example of a labeler account, I just noticed I'm on because I linked to x.com at some time.
