Dip Bars

    Hello all.

I have a steel shed so I'm not sure if fixing a chin up bar would be structural sound on the shed's structure, so I'm thinking of buying dip bars. I know they work different muscles but they should provide almost similar benefits. Anyone recommend if dip bars are worth the investment, any considerations, or tips on brands?

I got the pull up mate a good few years ago which transforms in to variety things including dips. I find the dips the most useful. The pull up part is too wobbly and the bar is a bit too thick for gripping. They may have improved it.

A dip is a good multi-joint upper body exercise, but is a chest and tricep movement.

A pull, depending on your technique, is going to be lats or more upper back, but basically, the back.

So they're not "like for like" really. If you have a dip bar you don't have a pulling option to work the back. Whereas if you could figure out a pull up option, you can pair that with push-up variations and you've covered your chest and triceps.

Anyway, if structure in the shed is a concern, you could either get a free-standing pull-up bar, or you could get a doorframe pull-up bar for 25 euro…. These are underrated, if you've got a door frame that's in reasonably good condition. It just hangs on it, no screws required.
