55" tv for approx €1k

Hi

I'm looking for a 55" tv for a bright room. Ideally under €1k but can stretch if it's worth it. Would connect to a Yamaha /MA 5.1 setup I purchased from yourselves a few years back so sound is not a consideration. Primarily used for ps5 and sports.

There are a few options if you're looking for a good 55" TV around that budget.

The one I would highly recommend would be the Philips 55PML9009 which is a MiniLED panel so has great brightness and contrast. It's a 4K TV with a Titan OS smart system and also has VRR for 120Hz gaming as well as Dolby Vision so it's very well spec'd for both general watching and gaming:

If you can go a little bit over budget though nothing touches the OLED panels and we have a great price on the Philips 55OLED759. As they're self lit panels the colour, contrast and brightness is a lot more natural and they are head and shoulders above the LED and Mini LED panels. The only thing is - if you're using it for gaming there is a risk on the OLEDs of screen burn. It's not as prevalent now as it used to be on the older models but it is something to be aware of:

I'm not sure on the 55S85D as it is not one that we have stocked, so I wouldn't be able to give my opinion on it unfortunately.

The Philips 55OLED759 is a great television and produces a fantastic image/picture.
The Ambi light is also a really nice feature and brings movies and sporting events to life.

I do apologies.
The 55S85D is just a new model that has arrived recently and I hadn't realised.
I have yet to have one into stock for display or demo so I have not seen it in action.
I have seen the 55S90D up and running and it is very good.

The 55S85D @ €999 is an instore only collection and can not be shipped as the current pricing makes it uneconomical to ship unfortunately.
There is no "Buy It Now" on the website so it can not be purchased for delivery.

OP, sorry to jump on this thread but I'm in a very similar position looking for a 55' around the same price.

Was looking at the LG Oled55b46la model and wondering about the differences between it and the Philips 55OLED759 mentioned above.

The main difference between the two at the moment is we're sold out of the OLED55B46 and I have very limited stock of the 55OLED759 left ready to ship!

In terms of specifications though there's not a huge amount of difference, they're both OLED panels with HDMI 2.1 and VRR support at 120Hz. They are also Dolby Vision compatible and have the same number of HDMI inputs. They do use different smart hubs and the LG has Freesat built in whereas the Philips will only give you Saorview but the Philips has Ambilight which actually really adds to it. I think the Philips 55OLED759 would be great value for money for picture and specs!
