Panel to Job Offer

    Hi Folks,

I recently passed an open panel county council interview.

In the letter I recieved it states the 3 panels formed initially with a number, given to me, beside the open panel. The other 2 are N/A.

    Basically on the letter, Panel A - N/A, Panel B - x, Panel C - N/A

I'm wondering how does selection work at this stage? The number I've been assigned on the letter for the open panel is for arguments sake say 3. Does that mean I'm 3rd in line overall across the 3 panels or 3rd in line in just the open panel.

If it's the latter how do they assign roles from the 3 panels? As in do they take the 1s from each panel and then move on to the 2s?

Sorry, these might be basic questions but as it's my first time applying for a county council role I'm just unsure how the next part works!

    Any guidance is appreciated!

From what you wrote it appears you are only eligible for one panel, the documentation for the role should outline how the panel works and rules around time lines for showing interest in a position ect.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the reply. As I was an external candidate I was only eligible for applying through the open panel.

My main query is the placement I've been given on the letter, is it an overall figure or just on the open panel. If it's overall then there's two people ahead of me (great stuff!) or if it's just the panel then there's potentially 6+ ahead of me (the 1s and 2s from all three panels).

I did check the candidate information booklet for the position but it fails to state a. How many positions there are and b. How the panels are to be used.

    Waiting game regardless!

The position number would normally be per panel, and the fact that they called out all 3 separately like that would support that.
If you had applied for both open and internal, you'd have two separate rankings compared to others in each group.

The order of appointment from the various panels is usually agreed with the union, so probably one each from internal, interdepartmental, open, until all positions are filled. The number of positions wouldn't usually be in the booklet, as a panel can last one or two years, filling any vacancies that arise.
