    Hi,

Does anyone here have experience with rhe Wheeltop eds groupset?

I've seen some reviews online but just wondering if anyone had experience closer to home. And most of the reviews seem to be sponsored..

Yeah i've the rim version, had it a good bit now and really happy with it. As alot of the reviews have kind of mentioned, the initial setup/pairing is a bit confusing. I had the same issue occur where the front mech got confused and move back and forth when trying to change which ring to be in. But its a simple fix with just resetting the initial calibration. Getting it on the bike was fine, apart from the fairly stiff hood rubber.

The app could be a bit more responsive, but they're updating it regularly and the indexing process is much quicker now, as you can set the current gears index position while also changing gears. Ran it with both 10 speed tiagra and now 12 speed 105 crank and no issues.

I got fairly lucky with the price and import duty, but i'd definitely recommend the rim version.

Thanks a mill... I'm looking at the rim brake version also. Yeah, there seems to be a few issue but looks like they are fixing them quite quickly..

    Thanks again.

Did you get hit by the tax man when it arrived in Ireland? Just tempted to order it myself.

Just checked the customs email and it was valued at €44.57 💁‍♂️. Import duty was 0, VAT €10.25 and then AnPosts fee. So a whopping €13.75 to import. I had ordered off of Aliexpress and not Wheeltops website. So they might have under valued it.

Just a thought. Was going to buy Wheeltop mini group (carbon version) few weeks ago. Depends what you need ie. need a full groupset or only upgrading the gear/ disc brake system on youre bike. If yea need full groupset I'd question the actual value.

700/750e for mini group - if you dont get fone for the customs & VAT but no cassette, no bottom bracket, no chain, on chainset or rotors (easily add 550e+ to the cost of above in ultegra equipment)

Bought full ultegra 12sp di2 disc complete group for 1430e from Mantel (105 available at 1100e) At that kinda money not sure if Wheeltop makes as much sense. Something to consider

Megane are close to releasing a 10/12sp electronic group. Its no doubt great to see new developers and a bit of competition for big 2 for sure

I think part of the attraction for a lot of folk of the Wheeltop mini group is the ability to upgrade older rim brake bikes to electronic shifting. I have a 2013 Felt F1 with Ultegra 6700 which has been pretty flawless so far but must be getting close to something breaking, since Shimano/SRAM have nothing to offer me in rim break either Wheeltop or the soon to be released Magene groupsets look to be a viable way to keep the bike on the road.

I have 105 disc 11 speed. Can you keep the 105 brake callipers and only replace derailluers and shifters?

Yea it's a good economical option for rim brake gearset upgrade for sure….

Bought this for a new build off alixpress, customs rejected it and sent it back, any idea why? The just vaguely said it didn't meet electronic regulations set out by revenue. First time ever having something from ali rejected.

So the Taric/electronic customs information was insufficient (labeled as hydraulic disks, which they technically are imo 🤷‍♂️), what would an electronic groupset be classed as for customs

was there a battery in what you ordered, which was not mentioned in the product description available to customs?

It must be, an post wherent very detailed on what exactly other than the Taric/customs data describing the package was incorrect, going to get the seller to send another groupset through with FedEx (at my expense) who will hopefully do a better job. Bloody customs in this country are a nightmare at times

How much cheaper did you get it from Ali than from Wheeltop website direct?

Between 11/11 sale coupon and the price/tax adjustment I paid 450
