Garden Office Broadband

    Hi all,

Moving into a new house, new build. Putting a garden office in eventually. There is already power to the location I plan to put. I'd like to have cabled internet to this office. Not via WiFi or power line adapters. Do this mean I need to run ethernet cable from the router in the house all the way out and into the garden? This will involve drilling holes in walls etc. which I obviously don't want to do. Or can it be done externally somehow? Clearly this stuff isn't my strong suit...

It does not have to be directly to the router - any Ethernet port would do if you have house wired throughout.
Do you have Ethernet in the attic ? - could run the cable up the wall and through the soffit.
How is the power brought to the garden - could use same ducting if there is one.

How far is the garden office - Ethernet run should not exceed 100m

I have this, I ran an ethernet cable from the sitting room router in the front of the house, out through an air vent (near the floor, not high up), all the way along the side wall, then underground (dug a shallow trench in the grass) to the shed at the back of the garden, works well. I have had the shed 7 years, and have had to replace the cable once.. I have it so it is easy enough to replace :)

All in all probably about 30mtrs.. You can get the cable on Amazon cheap enough, then in shed plug it into Wifi extender and their ya have it..
