We are thinking of moving to Corbally and I have a few questions.

Just how bad is the traffic on the Mill Road in the morning?

Are there buses to many of the secondary schools?

Mill Road is bad and particularly bad at the moment, about 12 months in to a 24 month project for active travel, no bus on Mill Rd. … closest stop at the top opposite Scoil Ide goes into town carries on thru to Dooradoyle

yeah, it is about 1km to the bus stop which isn't too bad!

We can work from home but worried about how early I will need to leave for schools!! I have Kids in the ETSS and a non local primary school.

I can not find a history of flooding there recently….

I can not believe there is only 1 car exit from the road. Hoping long term the kids will all cycle so I can avoid the morning traffic!!

Your good on the flooding for the most part, only one or two sections where it happens, wouldnt worry too much about it, google will give a good traffic estimate on time but it wont be short

It may or may not be an option but there is a wonderful route to cycle by the river all the way to UL which continues on to the ETSS in ballysimon.

3 of the second level schools are ' walkable ' to from Mill Road - Muchin's, St Mary's and Gaelcholaiste Luimnigh ( Pa Healy Road), and the very large primary at Scoil Íde

There's no getting round the traffic issue on Mill Road , in AM and PM rushhour ( and the traffic on the wider corbally road / athlunkard street is prone to heavy ( especially if there is an accident or traffic delay as there are no 'options' to take a different route)

If schools are in cityor city northside, the back via via Parteen/ Watchhouse Cross ( esp in mornings ) is faster

Just on the buses to secondary schools. Bus Eireann operate a school bus to and from ETSS out as far as Ardnacrusha. I'm not 100% on the Corbally pick up point. Worth contacting Bus Eireann here.

Thank you, it would have never dawned on me to call Bus Eireann, in my head it was a private bus.

99% of the time traffic on the Mill rd isn’t an issue, the Corbally rd can be slow at rush hour though.

I’d say before 08.30 you’ll be fine, between 14.45 & 15.00 with the kids getting out of school will affect things, if you’re thinking of moving out there, just take a drive out there at those times & see & judge for yourself, they’ll be the worst time, when school is off, no issues, as mentioned currently there are roadworks which are slowing things a little

As regards flooding, well it’s quite close to the Shannon, I wouldn’t be overly worried unless I was right down the end of the Mill Rd or a spot or two in Silverbrook that were affected in the past or maybe the lowest house’s in Brookhaven but I don’t believe they have been affected up to now but think the large green area in front of them was very wet at the time of previous bad flooding
