When repairs are not fixed by mechanic

    Hi all,

I brought my car to a mechanic recently due to an error light showing, and the mechanic charged me 700 euro for repairs ( new parts, labour ) . However, three days later and the same error light comes back on. I contacted the mechanic about the issue and they are basically doing a runner, keep fobbing me off.

I'm just wondering, what rights I have here as a customer, is there a standard warranty that applies across all garages for repairs? Should they have to investigate again and will I be expected to pay again or should there be no charge?

If anyone can advise, much appreciated :)

It is a fair expectation that if you paid for the repair it should be repaired. What warning light is it?

We need more specifics on the issue.

Like the first warning light could have been related to 1 issue and now the second light could be related to a different issue.

This is a common problem. Many garages are rubbish at diagnosing problems on modern cars, especially diesels. Car develops a running/starting problem. Garage starts replacing parts at the customer's expense. Then when the issue remains, they'll claim that the parts they replaced needed replacing anyway. And you won't be able to prove them wrong.

Aka Bolt On Diagnostics. It starts off with the battery, then sensors, DPF, EGR, then ECU and if allowed continue, culminates in them telling the customer that the "engine is gone".
