Wheel Compatability

Hi lads and lassies,

Hope it's not a stupid question but my Toyota Aygo didn't come with a spare wheel, only the Toyota brand repair kit.

A pal of mine is getting rid of a 2000 Toyota Yaris and told me I can have the spare from that if it fitted safely on my Aygo until I got to a puncture repair centre.

Would his 2000 Yaris wheel fit safely ?

He mentioned something about the Aygo having conical bolts as opposed to flat ones like is on his Yaris, could I get a wheel brace that'd do both flat and conicle bolts ?

If the wheel specification is the same, you could just buy the appropriate wheel nuts. The flat Toyota ones are usually for alloy wheels. Steel wheels normally use conical or tapered nuts.

Why don't you borrow the wheel and see if it will fit?

Really important thing to check is if the hub size is the same on both cars i.e. the hole in the middle of the wheel. If the hub on the aygo is smaller, the wheel nuts will loosen in no time.

Yeah looks good. It's a common mistake for people to get a spare wheel that has the same bolt pattern but different hub side. It is the hub that bears the weight of the car, not the bolts.
