I've been on JSA since last July and I heard that I may qualify for the bonus payment this fall/winter. Is there one in October as well as Christmas.

Are they not only payable to people on JSA allowance over a year?

What a country, extra benefits to people who are unemployed long term when we are at full employment and employers are crying out for staff.

You've heard wrong. 12 months on a Qualifying payment I'm afraid.

Payment date is supposed to be end of October week for the October payment and First week of December for December payment.

Usual nonsense of no specific information about anything until Friday before the payment is issued.

…and again, the root causes of unemployment, in particular long term unemployment tend to be complex in nature, its common for such individuals to experience long term complex health care issues, including and in particular long term psychological health care issues, i.e. mental health issues, this can be either the individuals themselves and/or a close loved one they care for…

In reality long term unemployment is Miniscule in Ireland, Probably no more than 30k, Many from the Travelling community & yes a Cohort who for whatever reasons & there are many refuse to either look for a Job or work.

Whilst unemployment very low, there are 1000's on CE schemes, Many only because it gets DSP off their backs. I'm aware of some people on CE schemes for 6 years or more.

The points you raise about illnesses, I'd imagine are dealt with through Disability Allowance but as it's been pointed out on a number of Threads, DA is now extremely difficult to get but I've no doubt, years ago it wasn't & there's probably a large cohort on DA that should never have been awarded it.

some what agree and disagree, you ll actual find most long term unemployed actually have undiagnosed complex psychological issues and disorders, most are completely unaware of their issues, therefore are simply, unaware, so now only are the individuals unaware, so to are our critical social systems such as our welfare systems, this commonly manifests as dysfunctional behaviors such as addictions, long term mental health issues, dysfunctional relationships, criminality etc etc etc

shame is an extremely common outcome for these individuals, ashamed of their situation and existence, this leads to further dysfunctions, including those mentioned before, i.e. addictions, crime etc etc etc

these individuals in fact require particular types of professional care, to help them deal with their induced dysfunctions, traumas etc etc from their experiences, all should in fact receive appropriate assessments of needs, but the reality is, this is highly unlikely to ever occur, leading to long term failures, including intergenerational…..

again, since little or no such assessments occur, theres little or no involvement of specialised departments such as da, so on and on and on it goes…..
