Pixel 9 - remove lens search when pressing bottom of the screen

I am not sure what the search feature is called so getting no joy googling for a resolution

On the new pixel 9 if I press and hold the bottom of the screen the lens search / circle anything search appears.

Its a bit of a pain as my thumb naturally sits on this area so always bringing up the search.

Does anybody know how I can disable this feature as its not something I will use.

Check to see if there is an option "hold handle to search" Might be under the Gesture settings?

Thanks - nothing obvious appears for Hold Handle to Search under gestures. I'll keep looking

I went into Apps, found the google app and disabled that. That removed the problem but no idea what else I have disabled by doing that. Time will tell.

I find it handy for well searching, you can also use it to copy text

You would want to reable the google app as its a large part of having a pixel, for one you will be stuck with a search bar that does nothing on the home screen (assuming you use the stock launcher)

Ive tried it all with apps/settings etc and little to no difference in messing with apps etc (im on a pixel 7a)

Thanks - I tried those settings but Circle to search didn't appear. even just searching in Settings for circle to search brings back zero results.

Its not the worst thing but I find it a bit intrusive launching an app when I didn't intend for that to happen

bought from google directly. Out of the box I just sync'd to my old pixel - data, apps etc and just started using.

I have reenabled the google app and everything else is up to date - just checked and I am on the latest system version.

If you have a spare few hours could try resetting the phone
