Hi. I have an alloy wheel that I can't get off due to a rounded nut. I need to get it to the local garage to change the wheel. But it has a minor sidewall puncture. Would holts tyreweld work on a sidewall puncture?

*Note it's just to get it a few miles to the garage to get the wheel removed.

Just get it lifted -sidewalls are a lot weaker than the main part of a tyre and Im not even sure tyre weld will work on a side wall.

Its not worth the risk even if it is only a few miles.

Can you get a socket slightly smaller than the rounded nut and hammer it on. You should then be able to remove the nut yourself

Yeah. Got a set in Screwfix, but when I got home I realised they were too small.

    Don't do it man.

Get a taxi to get the right tool from the garage if all else fails.

Try one of the tyre call out lads that will come to your house and fit the tyre. I'd say they've dealt with rounded nuts many times. My son called a tyre fitter to his house and it was surprisingly cheap.

A method used not on a car I admit was to cut a cross section into the head of a nut and then try unscrew it or somehow loosen it enuff for a spanner to turn. Not easy on a bolt on a wheel.Another was to weld another nut on top and unscrew.Neither methods suitable for a tyre nut.

Thanks guys. In no panic for the car. Just want to change the alloy to the original one. I'll call into the local garage or tyre fitter.
