No Option to Book Seat?

Hi lads,

This is more for curiosity than anything else. I booked a ticket for the Dublin to Gorey train next week, but my ticket says "NA" for the seat number. I presume that this means that I have no pre-booked seat. There was no option to select a seat when I bought the ticket, but this option WAS there previously for the same route.

Does this mean that there are no pre-booked seats on this route, and that I can just sit where I want without fear of taking someone's seat, or am I at risk of standing for the journey? If it's the latter, I'll just take the bus.

That means it's a service operated by a 29000 set, which don't have seat reservations. If it was operated by an ICR (22000) it should offer seat reservations. Depending on how busy it is, you may be stuck standing for the majority of the trip!

Thanks for the reply. Hmm if I get a seat at the first stop (I'll be getting on at Connelly), does that mean it's mine for the trip?

That should be the case, yes. Going the other direction is usually where standing room only is conmon

If there is no way to reserve a seat for yourself, there is no way for someone else to reserve a seat. Just get to the station early and you should be fine.

Thanks lads. I once stood on a train from Dublin to Galway, and it's an experience I don't want to repeat! :D
