I used a ceramic hob scraper but be careful you use it at the correct angle or you will scratch the glass. One like this and then your liquid of choice with it.

Very hot water on a facecloth - gently rub repeatedly - it should soften the glue

trying Isopropyl alcohol. Applying with a cloth. Results are meh

heat malt vineger (microwave small bowl) and apply and wipe. smell be awful but it should work.

as an aside nail polish remover tends to remove crap like this

If you've got any WD-40, try applying that with a cloth. That should work.

Or try using vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. I use that mix on lots of things.

Nail polish remover or label remover sold by Lidl occasionally or bought online.

Baby oil is great for removing sticky residue.

Spanish Eyes

Point a hairdryer at it. It heats the glue and you can gently scrape it off.

I would be very careful with a scraper. There have been one or two threads on boards over the last couple of years posted by people whose windows have been ruined by window cleaners using scrapers - some windows seem to have a coating which can be scraped off.

I would hope that a coating on a window which should last a couple of decades either be able to see off something like wd40 for ten minutes...

It looked like an old wooden framed window to me which I presumed was single glazed, maybe I'm wrong but the OP knows what he has so can decide what to use. My bad if I'm wrong and it could damage it.

actually, i missed that first time round (viewed on the phone, a beer or two in me) - in that case, a simple scraper would be my first port of call.

Theres no hack, there's just the way!

You want this stuff, apply, leave for 5min and then remove residue with a soft plastic scraper or cloth.

I use it for everything, but I happened to use it for this exact job at the weekend and it worked a treat. The trick is to leave it to work for a few mins before going at it.
