Will updating from a 2018 QLED show a noticeable difference?

    Hi 👋

I bought a Samsung 55” Q6F back in December 2018 for €1,100 here in Spain.

It’s primarily used for PS5 and Netflix.

I was told at the time that this was a pretty budget tv.

It’s held up really well - no issues whatsoever and the fact that I don’t have another tv beside it to compare against, to me the picture quality when playing PS5 games looks amazing.

However, would upgrading to a 2024 tv show a massive visual leap or just diminishing returns?

Our room is very bright (that’s why I went with QLED before).

The tv is also 5-6 feet away from our sofa.

If we were to upgrade, we would go for a 65” model but wondering if it’s wasted money based on what we already have?

    Budget would be €1,500 approx.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't think it will make a huge difference if you get another QLED. But an OLED and the size increase would be noticeable. Just make sure it can handle 120 hrtz and you are nicely future proofed.

Old thread but for the OP this is an interesting comparison between Samsung mini LED and TCL and the TCl actually seems to be the better set. I think problem in Spain with OLED is bright rooms so won't reach the same peak brightness levels as QLED micro LED sets

thanks for this. Yeh, this is my problem. I’m not sure if buying a new set (OLED in particular) will offer the gain (especially with the bright room). Does anyone have info about the possible jump in quality from my 2018 Q6F?
