Im not sure if this is the norm but a dealer quoted me €2,000 delivery charges on a car they seem to already have in stock so it's not the configuration I was after. I probably wrongly assumed that you only paid delivery charges on a car you actually ordered from the manufacturer?

Delivery charge is the cost of getting a car from the factory to the dealer, so it's charged on all new cars. Not included in the retail price so it's not subject to VRT.

Quite often includes a service plan to, especially at that price. Lower range Merc by any chance?

No it's a cupra. It's a big lump sum that they conveniently don't advertise on the showroom sticker!

Is there a service plan in the €2,000? That's a lot for a Cupra and over twice as much as we pay.

Standard retail delivery charge on Cupra is €1,000, according to https://www.cupraofficial.ie/cupra-match

"Recommended on the road price is RRP including delivery charges of €1,000 as recommended by CUPRA Ireland. Delivery charge includes CUPRA Care Pack which includes: 3 Year Manufacturer Service Plan, Complimentary CUPRA Courtesy Car, Complimentary Collection & Delivery. Complimentary Clean. CUPRA Ireland reserves the right to change specification, prices and withdraw products from sale without notice."

Check what the other €1,000 is for. Probably sliding in stuff like Paint Protection and SMART repair, without bothering to actually sell it to you. RTI (return to invoice) was off the table for a while recently due to legislation. It's coming back but not sure if it's allowed to be sold at the moment or not.

Cheers for the info that's very interesting, i reckon either your right and they were trying to sneak stuff in or they just made a mistake, I was thinking 2000 was a lot

If I recall correctly, I was charged €2000 as delivery charge on Hyundai Tucson hybrid 3 years ago. I was surprised and shocked!
