CS250 Keypads LCD Segments gone wild and can't re-install.

    Dear Boards.ie members,

I've been lurking around the threads on these old CS250 systems for some years now. altor and KoolKid are very familiar to me in particular. The guru's of the CS250 it seems.

But I have this particular problem that I haven't yet found a fix, or a reason, for. For more years than I care to remember, I've kept this CS250 going, 4 keypads, 2 RF receivers, 10+ wireless sensors, 6-8 wired zones.

But a little while back one of the keypad LCD segments started going a bit crazy. Illegible, random, segments on and off and no text or numbers readable. I checked the wiring to it, disconnected, reconnected, same. I swapped it with a keypad that was looking and working ok. No change. Except that when I put keypad number 2 back to the room it came from then it too remained with messed up LCD segments.

I uninstalled, both, and when I tried to install them again both LCD had "Please install NO + #". But there was no response, at all, on either when I was holding "NO + #". Subsequently, soon, the other 2 keypads followed suit with the LCD gone bad and unusable. Then they too were not responding to "NO + #".

Tried some random things, checking wire continuity/power, powered it off completely (battery disconnected), disconnections and re-connections of various keypads, and such like. No change, all keypads not responding when "NO + #" is being pressed.

BTW, I have full control of this system, installation code/s and all the installers manuals.

So I wonder if just good community could help and advise me on 2 main questions?

    1. Does anybody recognize this failure mode? Is it possibly recoverable (once more) or is it fatal?
    2. I'm already leaning towards 'fatal' and search for some replacement. So my second question is does anybody know (with reasonable certainty) which panel I could get to replace the main CS250 panel that will also work with the current wireless receiver (433MHz btw) and sensors?
      1. I think the Advisor range looks most likely. But will it work with my current 433MHz receivers too?

I've rambled on, sorry. But thanks for reading and all advice will be appreciated.
