Taxi from Rathfarnham to the airport

Trying to weigh up if it would be cheaper to get a taxi to the airport or book car parking at the the airport which looks pretty expensive. Blue car park is the cheapest but not sure where that is? Taxi estimate fare site goes from 44 to 70 euro. Just wondering if anyone did make a similar journey and what it cost.

We regularly do Ranelagh to the Airport for the family and it varies (45-75€); we don't use the M50 but sometimes on the way home go through the port tunnel and east link. Some taxi drivers charge for every bit of luggage/bags and some are more reasonable. We'd always order a big one for the family. TG in Dublin Airport they are more logical about organiging the queue so those who need a big taxi get one.

The blue carpark is the furthest away from the Terminal, after red & green. The shuttle is less frequent, been more like every 20 minutes in my experience; you need to factor in a good bit of extra time.

You can get fixed price to the airport from borough taxi. It was 55 from Tallaght. Might have it listed on their site or just give them a ring.

I'm sure they're not the only one that do it.

The blue carpark is beside Harristown bus garage take the Ballymun exit off the M50 follow the signs for Naul/Ashbourne and then it'll be on your left. The bus takes about 15 mins to get to the airport runs about 15 mins or so.

The buses from the blue carpark to the terminal in particular can get be packed especially early in the morningat busy times so don't be surprised if your left behind because the buses are full. I'd imagine this is an even bigger issue now the bendys have been replaced by rigids. So leave plenty of time for it especially if your flight is early morning. The green carpark has the least frequent shuttle not the blue.

If you're going to use the car park, pay the extra couple of Euro per day and park in the Express Red one.

It's a vastly superior service.

The only way to give a definitive answer is to know how long you're going for?

7 nights at the end of the month you can get the red car park for €96 and the blue for €82. A return taxi you'll be looking at around €110 minimum.

Going 19/9 to 25/9 gives me red 134, blue 92. Other option is taxi out and 16 bus back but I know the bus is a bit of a trek.

When I put those dates in I get 108 and 77. Maybe try again incognito mode. 16 bus takes you half way around the world.

All depends on your priorities/physical abilities really, if I was saving 30/40 quid to drive there and take a short bus ride I'd do it.

Red is definitely preferable for airport parking.

They'll afford you a little wiggle room on times, if it makes more cheaper for you. We'd a delayed flight, coupled with my mistake booking, ended up being there 4 or 5 hours longer than expected and it was ok.

Or booking an airport service taxi for a set-rate as mentioned above.

Which side of Rathfarnham are you? If you can get to Ballinteer for the Dublin Coach bus, it is fairly direct - brief stop at Red Cow

Ye, I did a similar journey, took about 1.5 hours in rush hour traffic and cost €2. It was on a big yellow #16 'taxi', no booking required!😂🤣

You are correct. The Luggage charge was removed years ago. The only "Extras" that can be charged now are a Booking fee (€2 which is chargeable if you phone for, or use an app to get a Taxi. It doesn't have to be a Booking per se, it's more a fee for the convenience of having a Taxi pick you up wherever you are), and an extra €1 per passenger…not inc the 1st passenger and only chargeable for every 2 children under 12.

You will also be charged for any Tolls.

I've done that journey countless times. Always get the No.16 to/from Rathfarnham Castle and walk the last bit of the way. My children do the same when they want to visit their granny.

If you live near Rathfarnham SC, how about taxi/lift to the Square SC and take airport hopper bus, goes to both terminals.

I've used it lots of times, super reliable, always on time and good price. Takes approx 40 minutes.
