Gap Fireplace surround

Hi We have a small gap between our wooden fire surround and wall. Depending on what way the wind blows there is a hell of a draught. Is fire cement suitable to fill this gap or is there an alternative?

Hi, I think a photo would be best here, but by the sound of it, it doesn't need fire cement unless there are high temperatures. Likely that a flexable silicon based filler would be best as the wood will more slightly with time. Upload a photo and we'll have a look.

If it's away from heat (ie on the surround itself) a multi-purpose silicone to match the colour such as this:
