Camden would be a good guess, but in terms of overall floor area I wouldn't be surprised if one of the remaining rural nightclubs actually takes it. Limelight in Glenties had two full club spaces and a pub when it was open for instance.

I think you need to define what a pub is and what areas within the building or site count as the pub. The Aviva Stadium is a huge pub at tines.

I don't think there's an answer to this.

I know plenty of rural bars who host festivals / concerts / fundraisers etc.

Often installing a marquee or tents etc. and could have thousands of customers.

The service areas of a pub are defined on the Publicans Licence; but the actual licence docs are in the local courts and won't have the sqm measurement on them either; so not something we can just look up

Lansdowne Road has a specific National Sporting Arena licence not a Publicans Licence; along with Croke Park, RDS, Thomond Park, Parc ui Chaoimh, Semple Stadium and the National Stadium (boxing).

If adding areas together, the Railway Car Licence issued to Irish Rail covers every single carriage that does or may have a trolley service, which is hundreds. Adds up to quite a bit; but isn't a Publicans Licence.

364 days a year of pubs being open; lets do the physics question thing of assuming stuff - assume they're all open, all keep regular opening hours and are all open to the public and not just hotel guests or whatever - that's four years at five pubs a day, or five years at four pubs a day.

And presumably a few months off for a trip to the US for a new liver.

Google does return a claim from 2008 that the Submarine Bar was the biggest pub. But it has closed down since.

There were probably 30 pubs in Dublin alone bigger than it the day it opened let alone now. Pretty much any 70s-90s suburban drinking barn is bigger than it.

That was always a separate pub. Rory O'Connor's was/is a dedicated, smaller, oul lad/pintman pub. The Sub was the big sister with notions. Completely separate entrances, facilities, everything. There was a restaurant and a bookies between them.

Back in the day, The Belgard Inn was huge,, and there was a pub in Courtown that expanded to take in an unused cinema next door, it had a 3 story niteclub and was packed in summer time.

It's unlikely to be the biggest, but over three levels the Quays in Galway holds 1,400 people.

Biggest pub, probably hard to agree as a lot of bigger ones would really be clubs masquerading as pubs..one example….. Break for The Border was marketed by the owners as a ‘super pub’, it was more a nightclub….that opened a small part of it earlier

Depends on what you are using to judge what qualifies as biggest. Capacity? Floor space? Amount of alcohol served? Lots of suggestions in the thread could fit the bill depending on the criteria.
