Fantastic player, the Euros put him over the top I think. Well deserved.

That's harsh! If you were to remove any other nominee from the list you'd still think their team would do well! I think the whole league rejoiced (not in a bad way) when he got injured as he's such an integral part to City's system!

Also, I think it's bad that only creative players can win it! If you're the best player in the world you should win it no mater your position!

Delighted for Rodri, but football is a team game ,won on the pitch , but the reaction of Real to the decision is so poor, like in a school yard.

Absolutely pathetic from Real Madrid. The sense of entitlement they have is ridiculous. You'd swear some plodder had just won the award, Rodri is a very deserving winner.

The fact that the Spanish should recognise the value he offers to their national team too. He's one of their own and should be able to see why he won it.

Real have made such a show of themselves.

    Fair play to Rodri.

You would imagine the impact of this decision on Vini Jr going forward to potentially win this at some stage was such a terrible decision by not showing up. He is 23/24? Another 10 chances to win it. People who are voting will not forget this childish behavior

He is so much more than a destroyer, I'd go as far to say if I could pick one player to join Liverpool, it would be Rodri, your midfield is elite instantly. Why does it up sum the modern game that he won it? This modern day no.6 role has proved instrumental to success, before Rodri there was Fabinho, you have Rice playing that role now too.

Even if the award was just for the most creative player then, from the Top 5 Leagues, Vini Jr finished last season behind 105 players in total assists and behind 32 players in total goals.

I wonder how Bellingham feels not getting to be the first Englishman on a Ballon d'Or podium since Gerrard and Lampard in 2005 because his club decided to throw a temper tantrum. Like that's an absolutely massive achievement for someone his age.

Was Vini actually better than Jude last season ???

Madness Alonso didn’t pick up manager of the year award, an unbeaten domestic season winning the double and lost the europa league final. Dethroned Munich after a decade of domestic dominance.

Correct, all the talk is about Real spitting their dummies out, but it shows you there is something wrong when Alonso didn't win that award.

Sums up why Real are so dislikable. An awfully entitled club, from the very top, down to their fans.

    Yes.

From the CL knockouts onwards, Bellinghams form went to pot.

How did I not hear of this before...

    Barcelona's Luis Suarez wins 1960 Ballon d'Or.
