2024 Duck Season

Lads quick question has the 2024 duck season been delayed as the Minister did not sign the Open Seasons Birds order? Shoot the very odd one myself and allow one other lad to shoot on the farm. Mostly Crows I shoot so assume that too maybe not legal at moment??

If the crows are causing damage they can be shot anytime under the existing derogation

It doesn't need to get signed in. It's law. It's there every year. Changes made are done by statutory instrument.

I thought the all birds protected Wildlife Act and that every year the Minister makes an order derogating that protection and stating the seasons, which every year stay the same. Last year 4 Ducks removed. Anyway normally a small article in the Farmers Journal every year to say the order signed and what season is etc. Noticed none this year so googled it and saw no order. Assume just late and not an issue as I shoot very little duck, just walkers by farm and not want hassle one them making a complaint. Will tell lad with permission to wait off.
