There's some amount of haws on the bushes this year. They say 'A haw year is a raw year'.

Nice day in Sligo. Not roasting but at least dry. Cloud building so tomorrow might be dull before sunshine Tuesday. As good as we can expect this late into the year. So a week in mid September will be as near to our Summer this year. No doubt it won't last the weekend but it will be a pleasant week finally. FINALLY.

Got sunny today around 11am and stayed fairly sunny till about 430pm. Cloudier now.

Great afternoon alright, got up to 20.8C south of Cork city

With the uppers higher than anything we've seen all Summer, I think temperatures will respond better than predicted! More so Monday to Wednesday I think 22 to 24C is more than likely, maybe even a 25

A bit unusual to see uppers higher than anything we've seen all summer and it's mid September! Also unusual will be the easterly influence over the next week. Those are rare any time of the year and very rare for September. It's also worth noting that both the NAO and AO are set to go fairly negative over the next 2 weeks, again this is unusual for September.

Unfortunate that Europe is flooding while for once we are dry till Friday with sun 🌞

GFS 18z extends the dry and warm weather slightly further to the 25th of September, after that a definite cooling and unsettled trend but that is along way off. Enjoy the next week of lovely summery style weather although the late evenings can't sustain warmth at this time of the year. However giving how most of summer 2024 panned out this spell of weather is extremely welcome and will delay autumn for me after spending first 11 days of the month in Spain.

Agreed I would happily take this plesent/warm spell , I was only saying to myself earlier that evenings at this time of year will cool down more quickly but hey I would happily accept this weather after a horrible summer , this sun this week will definitely lift my depression a little 😀

Mount Dillon would have to be the favoured spot for a 25, imagine going from -1c to 25c in just a few days.

Going to be a fine day once the mist clears

On this day 16th Sep, in 1961, Ireland was hit by winds gusting over 110m.p.h. as the centre of the former hurricane Debbie passed close to the W coast

Malin Head in Donegal recorded Gusts of 181km/h & Sustained wind speeds of 122km/h

Fair play again Oscar, rare and extreme event.

Lovely sunrise photos guys. A great week ahead to get outdoor work done!

a very extreme event, 18 deaths, 12 in the Rep and 6 in NI. If there were red warnings back in those days lives would have been saved.

Very true Elmer, I'm always giving out about all the yellow warnings, but orange and red warnings save lives.

Lovely day again. A nice September really shortens the winter. That said, I always find Oct-Dec flies but Jan-March drags.

This is looking like a very dry September too. No harm getting the water levels down before the winter.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Stunning morning with the mist rising over the wet lands. Sun breaking through and then bliss. A few swallow still here enjoying the sun and flies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,561 ✭✭✭pauldry

Cloudy in Sligo. Was meant to be only West coast and parts of Southwest but changed now to Atlantic coasts.

Still it's better than 99percent of Summer days were. Very windy too. Why is this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,443 ✭✭✭mcburns07

Similar here, fog sitting at the valley floor and blue skies, so picturesque.

We have a big field behind our house and the swallows dart above our garden all day, still plenty around 😁

20º and clear gin blue skies with wall-to-wall sun all day in Dublin.

Can't ask for much more in Ireland in mid-September.

Hopefully that cloud clears western parts tomorrow so the whole country get some nice sun.

A cloudy day. Tomorrow will be better

Still a bit of sun peaking out in Galway City despite the cloudiness, feeling plenty warm too. I'll take it!

Clear and sunny in Cork, but temps not as good as I thought. We seem to be maxing around 19/20C as per Met Eireann prediction
