    Hey guys,

My old HP inkjet printer has died and it's time to upgrade!

I'm looking for a Brother laser printer for home use. Budget is probably around €400 max but was thinking around €200-250 Finding it very difficult to find one that supports all of the above especially aftermarket toner. All recommendations are welcome thanks!

Did you find what you need? I'm looking for a similar solution and narrowed my search to the 3560 model which matches your requirements. I'm just waiting to see if there is a price drop in the Amazon sale next month.

Be careful brother recently updated their firmware which stopped 3rd party toners from working. Thankfully the toner company had an updated toner to get around it. But it's poor behaviour for brother. Mine also won't print black if a colour is low. Scammers.

I'll probably sell mine for something smaller. It's too bulky.

Thanks. Good to know. The HP that I use at work won't print black if a colour is depleted. I've read that some Xerox models will.

Guess it's a scam they they all mostly do.

The only solution is just get a black one.

After more research yesterday I ordered the 8690 which has a few features over the 3560 that I thought were out of my reach. Auto 2 sided scanning as well as print, comes higher capacity toners installed, a fax which I won't use, a memory stick slot and a £100 cashback offer making it £256. Due to arrive on Tuesday morning.

Mine does automatic one sided scanning but you can run though stuff twice to kinda do it. Mines a 37xx or something. Would have preferred proper two sided. I've realised I use my phone a lot for scanning..

Just to finish. Printer arrived today. WiFi setup was easy on 2 tablets, 2 phones and an old laptop. Working as expected, but a bit glitchy printing direct from within Android apps. The work round is to share with the printer (iPrint and Scan app) rather than the print icon. I've applied for the cash back. A good printer in conclusion. If you have the space for it.

I found the iPrint App it's the only thing that prints reliably for me.

That looks like a good price.
