was looking at a new diver but wanted to stay away from the usual Seiko, Seamaster etc

Was looking at Zodiac, Baltic ..

Any thoughts on brands?

I've never experienced one in real life, but I like the look of the Squale divers.

Doxa Sub 200T is very much on list for next watch. Was really hoping I to get in a trip to UK or Europe this summer where I could see one in the flesh but too much going on. Too many choices of colour and flat dial or sunburst to make a decision buying online. Leaning to mat Black or Blue but could see the Orange tempting me in the flesh.

Very keenly priced for specs, adjustable bracelet is a massive plus. Doxa lume is probably only week point. Sinn 104 is the other main contender unless I go mad and splurg on the Tudor 39mm Pelagos.

yes compared to release price thanks to inflation it's a little high in price but still you get a more interesting watch compared to other divers in the price range.

Let's be honest, so many divers are SO similar.

With many of them, you have to actually check the name on the dial to see which one it is. There are so many generic looking ones.

Probably why those that are even slightly different stand out.

The nomadic brand is to Tudor what steinhart is to Rolex.At least the Laco looks different, not good different but different.

I’ve always struggled with the 1-3k price point for divers as very little in that price range is better that a Seiko turtle or samurai .For €500 on a Seiko you get as good if not better than anything else until you get to omega sea master price range .

Don't disagree with you but let's be honest, Seiko are very common and popular. At least with Steinhart, Nomadic or Laco you're getting something a bit more unique.

Steinhart and Nomadic are in no way unique , They are the quintessential homage brands .For something unique from a smaller brand the likes of Brew and Studio underdog are at least being creative.Nomadic just seen a black bay and said yep let’s make that , oh and we’ll make it in an area know for its high quality craftsmanship and charge over a grand for it.

I've had a black dialled Pelagos and it was a really lovely watch. That said? I let it go because I acquired a Hamtun Kraken with an SW200 movement that really was a case of 90% of the oomph for 10% of the price. So I let the Pelagos go and never regretted it.

In your shoes, I'd go for the aquatimer its distinctive, it's got a very unique character and look and it's IMO, with the caveat of never owning one, a cracking watch.

I ended up buying the blue faced IWC aquatimer and have to say I'm very impressed with it, Will Definitely be a keeper, ill put up a picture later

To big or too small? I like the cut of their jib but they can be expensive. I'm looking at the Squale 1521 as well.

Hard to beat this for €1700 on chrono .Real heritage , proper diver, adjustable clasp and available in bright orange if that floats your boat .

I have three Squale watches, T183 in forged carbon, and a 1521 Marina Militare and a master marina, I do like them, also have a few Yemas, the Yema superman is a nice watch and do wear regularly. im Based outside Limerick if you wanted a try on depending where in the world your at

Thank you, I only bought it last week and took delivery last Tuesday, Have been admiring them for a long time and decided to pull the plug, I'm very impressed with it and is a lovely watch on the wrist, lume is fantastic, would be tempted to buy Ball again, but i need to make room in the case🙄

Yema's do catch my eye sometimes. Decent value on Superman models with 30% off @ €800. I do like the scales bracelet and bezel lock on them as something different. I'd still find it hard to not spend the extra on a Doxa though.

I do like the Yema.

However, I heard that if the need to be serviced they need to go back to their HQ. Wouldn't put me off, but just something to be aware of.
