Ranges in Southeast

Hi all, somewhat new to the hobby here. I’m 22 and living in west Waterford. Shooting here and there with friends over the years, albeit not recently.

I’ve been looking to get into target shooting .22lr for years and I think now is finally the time as money is no longer as scarce as it once was 😊. As such I’ve been well versed in the laws for a long while so I know all that is involved in applying for the licence.

I’m just wondering if any of ye lads have any recommendations for gun ranges for .22 rifle (ideally pistol as well, as I’d like to get into that in a couple of years) ranges in or near the Clonmel - Dungarvan - Waterford city triangle region. The closer to home the better, obviously. I’ve been looking on boards for days but the threads about ranges are all very old and no ranges seem to exist within an hour of me. There was the woodlands but I’m unsure if it’s still open. Any help for a young fella is greatly appreciated.

Secondly, there is a list of ranges by county here:

Along with known information about them like joining fees, contact info etc. Somewhat dated I grant you, but there haven't been new ranges opened in a long time, and more have closed since so the list is actually still pretty accurate.

The numbers of ranges in the country is quite small compared to other EU countries, so you will likely have a ways to drive(I've never found one less than about an hours drive away from me).

Fermoy Rifle Club, Munster Target Shooting Club would look like the closest geographically based on your triangle, both at a little over an hour, then you are looking at further afield if those facilities don't look to suit your shooting interests.

I believe there there is a range between Wexford and Rosslare, but I have never been, so do not know much about it

o Wexford Bullseye Sports (25m range)

Further up the east coast (Roundwood, Wicklow) you have

o East Coast Shooting Club (25, 50 & 100m ranges)

Further west you have

o Fermoy Rifle Club (25m, 50m & 100m ranges)

Seems to be uncertainty about what's available/open even among the community. Would it be worth asking the local FO what ranges are registered on PULSE in the region?
