I do a bit of work at nursing homes.

Was at one a while back and the owner also owned a number of houses close by. The care staff and nurses from the nursing home were "renting" these from the owner.

I could not believe the filth that the staff were living in. It certainly made me wonder what kind of standards they would be maintaining at work given how they lived.

A HIQA report is a bit like an NCT report.

What HIQA have done well is to raise standards in terms of facilities. You won't find 8 bed units in private nursing homes anymore.

Regardless of her ability, I think it’s the producers need to changed, the show needs to be revamped, with a clear view of what type of show it is.
Lurching from the presenters pet subjects to serious matters doesn’t work.

Not listening today but we had this 20 years ago with Lees Cross. Here we are again. Not much learned.

The problem is that I could open a care home in the morning if I wanted. I can hire any clowns I like for minimum wage and let them loose on the residents. There should be oversight of these facilities and proper qualifications for care staff. If you leave vulnerable people at the mercy of privateers bad things happen.

I always wonder with these profit companies,

Are they never satisfied with profit being made, they're always going for more and more profits, and that can only come with raising prices and cutting staff

I watched the RTE Investigates programme last night and it was appalling. There's no defense for 99% of what I seen.

But I will say the worker who wiped her hand on the old woman's dress after she had made a mess in the toilet. The staff were saying at one point that there's no wipes, and the old woman's dress was probably going to be changed after that incident, so, just saying, it's probably one of the only things I could forgive.

It's an important subject, but it's just going to be rinse and repeat of people wringing their hands, asking how this has been let happen, how it should never happen again, where is the humanity, etc.

There's a lot of people in the care industry who are the least caring people,

I've a family member who works in a nursing home, and they're one of the least caring person I've ever known.

Unless they can turn on empathy like a switch (which i very much doubt) they shouldn't be in their job,
