First caller today is a bit of a miserable git.

I thought people only go to rugby for de drink

It's certainly not for any entertainment value

if you really wanted to watch the game, you would stay at home and watch on the tele. You are going for the atmosphere and fun. You really think you can see the game properly in the majority of the seats in the stadium ?

KT trying to get a bit of outrage going now, and Martin sounds a bit touched, he should stick to the GAA

RTE's flagship radio programme, called Liveline. has a problem with it's telephone line.

Martin is concerned about people drinking at a rugby match.

Aren't we lucky to be living in a place where that is the biggest problem to cover?

    Katie: Did it annoy you?

Martin: Not really but it annoyed other people.

Well if he rang in, it must have annoyed him a bit!

I’d be driven to drink watching Rugby too in fairness!

KT wondering if people buying drink annoyed Martin!

caller rings to talk about something that he really isn’t annoyed about

I'm guessing a large proportion of people at that game were there for the "event" and wouldn't really care one way or another about the performance or result of the game.

Drop any Radio 1 show a text and Liveline will call you back.

How did they breathe if "it lacked atmosphere"?

I go to all the Ireland football matches.

To be honest. I wish I could drink during the games.

It is de Rugby. They are not supermacs fans. More lightly takeaways from The Lobster Pot up the road from the stadium.

Martin thought it was a bit 'flat'. I'm not sure Martin is dealing with a full deck

Martin: Lots of people couldnt get tickets for that game.

Also Martin: It looked full but there were a lot of empty seats.

Why did it lack atmosphere? Well for starters it was a wet, windy, bitterly cold day. Hard to feel energised in those kinds of conditions.

It would be better if the caller was asking whoy only Carlsberg and Rockshore pish beers are available on draught.

    a great result…by five points

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,482 ✭✭✭✭2smiggy

You have this sensible caller who KT cannot drag any of the answers she wants out of. She needs a few more Martin's to ring in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 880 ✭✭✭orourkeda1

So it has to be sunny to create an atmosphere? The very definition of fair weather.

KT must have picked up Joe's "stupid" from sitting on the studio chair or something

Of course the fans would behave differently in Croke Park if they could bring gargle to the seats

My brother is a big Leinster rugby fan and much prefers when games are played in Croke Park, specifically because he doesn't have to be standing up every 5 mins to let punters in with trays of beer or others going to the toilets after consuming said beer.

Katie:"You have no issue with the amount of drinking".

Katie has clearly never been to a match on the continent.
