    Hi,

I am currently just out of contract for broadband, was paying 40/month for 1gig off sky. Now that I am out of contract they want 80/month, The best they could do for me was knock a fiver off my bill so that's no good.

Sky currently have a deal for new customers at 30/month.

M question really is can I cancel my broadband with them and take it out in my wife's name? Same address just different name. I presume sky are wiser than that and limit new customers to households? As in has to be an address that currently doesn't have sky broadband supplied to it?

    Thanks

Yes, done it many times before. Never an issue being at same address. Just give cancellation notice and then signup online under different name and email etc.

Sky don't now that' it's your wife or who is in the house. I also say I'm moving out of the home and do not require a house move as the house I'm going into has sky already installed. So just be to the point on the call.

they will allow it. But you will have to wait 30 days before they cancel, that's another bill at full price.

You better off just switch. Vodafone, Pure Telecom, Eir (if you are not on SIRO) all can switch you in about 4 days using your Universal Account Number and cancel on your behalf. Average price is €40-€45/pm .

How is the service from Sky? I will be out of contract from VM and they want to rob me with the new plans.

Sky seems cheapest at the moment.

Changing BB provider is pretty simple tbh. I'm going from Vodafone to Eir currently.

I've a 500mb fibre line, and was paying Vodafone 30p/m originally and that crept up to €45p/m mainly through lack of competition.

Vodafone called me last week offering €35p/m for 6 months, followed by €45p/m for the 2nd 6 months. I said fair enough and agreed to go again. It's unusual for a service provider to contact the customer so I was ever so slightly impressed. €480 for the year was less than I was already paying.

I became aware of the Sky offer 1gb for €30p/m, which is good, so wondered what else might be available.

Long story short I used one of the comparison sites and found Eir were offering an identical service for €35p/m for 12 months, with €100 cash back after 3 months. That's €320 over the year, or €26.66p/m

I spoke to Vodafone to cancel, and to Eir to provide my UAN. The changeover process sounds easy.

The switch is set for Monday morning next, and the new Eir router arrived this morning.

Moral of the story is to shop around and be prepared move at every renewal.

p.s. I was also paying Eir €22p/m for a 30 day sim only mobile contract. That's automatically reducing now to €9.99p/m.

Just this week I changed form VF to Eir.

Was with VF for 12 months at €35 a month incl the "always on" dongle but that jumped to €60 when the contract ended. Was 500mb FTTH.

The Eir package is €45 a month for 2 years for 1000mb. They cancelled the VF contract for me and I had the new modem the next business day.
