Finding a GP

My friend moved near Drogheda and is looking for a new GP. She would prefer a female GP around her age (25-30) as she had a bad experience with a male GP that traumatised her. I know that there's a shortage of GP's in this country but would she be able to find one.

Call local surgeries, or look at their website, if they have one.

The only way to find out is to start calling around and see who has open slots or running a waiting list.

If she has a medical card then the HSE will get her a GP but if she's private then call every GP she can find to see if any are taking new patients, there's feck all GPs taking on new private patients.

There's a new surgery opening at Southgate shopping centre and another in Donacarney. No idea who the GPs might be, but both advertised for patients recently.

Its nearly impossible to be taken on anywhere these days as most GP surgeries are already full to capacity.

She might get lucky and get in somewhere but this 25 to 30 age thing is just unrealistic.
