Is there a time limit on rebuilding a burnt out house before pp required?

Hi all,

Do you need PP to rebuild a burnt out house to the same spec?

What if the house was burnt down 20-30 years ago, are you still good to go?

Short answer is yes, pp required to rebuild to any spec. Doesn't matter how long the house has been burnt out.

you cant rebuild it to the same spec, if the building regulations that exist now, are different from those which existed at the time of first construction.

any new rebuild will have to comply with current building standards

in general, planning permission is required to rebuild a burnt down house

Thanks, the people who bought this house haven't bothered getting planning, and are just rebuilding it anyway.

On the plus side, a fully completed house is less of an eyesore than a burnt out ruin and derelict site.

Have you checked with the council?

The house is in my neighborhood so I don't need the hassle and as I said, the big picture is that it will improve the area.
