    Hi all,

It's been 6 years since I've had a 2 week break from work, in October we are looking to go on holidays but we can't decide what to do or where to go.

    1. Fly and flop holiday. If we go to canaries it will be 2 weeks in the sunshine, mostly relaxing, dining out, light exercise activities and sunbathing...
    2. Fly somewhere in Europe and travel by train/bus and explore. But where in Europe?
    3. Go to Thailand and explore this part of the world. This sounds amazing but is it really?
    4. Go to the USA, visit perhap areas like; Chicago, Boston, Texas. Would you spend 2 weeks in America?

All the above options have their good points. Option 1 I've done many times for a week and love, it's the safe option. Have you any recommendations or advice for the other 3 options?

    Would you reccomend something else?

No. 4 - get a map and look at the distances. Texas in itself is huge. To also factor in Chicago and Boston ? You could spend 2 weeks in Texas and still not see it all.

Punta Cana Dominican Republic. Drink belly loads of rum at an all inclusive, hehe!

After 6 years of no vacation then just book a good hotel in the sun, all inclusive food&drink and just sit back and relax.

On number 4, dollar is strong again euro and America having its own cost of living crisis so prepare to have deep pockets if you like that option

No. 3 all day long. Thailand and South East Asia in general is a phenomenal destination to visit that is tragically under looked by many who aren't young backpackers.

You can have whatever type of holiday you want over there, fly and flop on island paradises like Koh Tao, Phi Phi. Go up north for a holiday in the jungles and mountains of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Pai. Pure nature parks like Khao Sok national park you'll see some of the most incredible sights.

Bangkok is an incredible city to start/end your trip for a couple of nights.

Not to mention the value for money once you are there, no where in Europe and certainly not in the US can compete with the level of quality and service you get for next to nothing.

America gets my vote. Weather would be lovely in places like the Carolinas, Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans, California.

You can drive from Nashville to New Orleans via Memphis and down through the nice parts of Mississippi in about 10 hours all in. Stop off in Vicksburg, Natchez etc. Take a boat down the Mississippi. Listen to some music, eat some BBQ.

Or do the 101 in California. wine country down to San Diego. San Fran, Monterey, Carmel by the Sea, Big Sur, Santa Barbara, LA….

We've done a few flights abroad this year and have a 10 days off in October, was discussing with herself where would be nice and relaxing and we've decided to have a staycation and meander up and down to Donegal (from Kerry) using AirB&B for accommodation.

Have to say I can't remember when last I was so looking forward to a holiday, we've booked small cottages with open fires/stoves and all other modern facilities. We're taking a chance on the weather not being too miserable but we're not really sun worshipers anyway. There'll be plenty of good Guinness, good wine, Irish coffees and good food with no airport stress or long flights to worry about.

Get there as quick as you can, direct flight and relax. That's my advice

    So eg Canaries or Crete

You can always move location after a week

For sun, sea and sand, I'd pick an all-inclusive in Morocco.

Incidentally I'm going to Poland in September and have been promised good weather there too, not as warm as Morocco though which suits me.

Looking to go (Again) in February. Stayed in the Medina last time but looking for something nice with a big pool this time. Preferably airport side of the city.

The Agadir Beach Club is my preferred destination. Nice, heated pool which is nice on the chillier days. Tunnel to the beach. Good food and a couple of English channels on the TV.
