Acting position - what are the conditions?

If applying for an Acting position - either DP or P - what are the conditions of employment? If, say, you're applying externally from another school, what happens your position if the DP returns from secondment?

Acting positions are advertise dinternally within schools. Therefore the situation you mention does not arise.

Conditions of employment are as for the incumbent. Once upon a time there was a three month wait before allowance was paid. Not sure now.

    Thanks for that, appreciate it.

Just wondering what happens if let’s say I’m appointed Acting DP, then the original DP returns after secondment - what happens to me?

You go back to your job as classroom teacher with original AP11 or 1.

But you will have gained experience as a DP and can use that for future promotion prospects. It helps hugely at interview.

What happens if you're appointed acting dp from another school? Does the school/etb have to facilitate a teaching position, with no post, somewhere?

Some Acting DP positions have come up on publicjobs the last few months.

I wouldn’t go near an acting job in another school. Theresa reason they need to get an outside candidate, and none of those reasons are good.

    Agree with doc_17.

I would also say that any candidate who has thoughts of applying for a DP or P position should do serious due diligence on the school. I have known a few good people who walked optimistically into disaster areas, thinking they could sort the problems. It doesn't do much for your cv either.

Remember, if you can't fire, you can't fix.
