Might be looking for a new AVR

So it looks like my Denon AVR X4200W, which I bought from you guys almost 8 years ago may have given up😢. When I turn it on the Denon screens flicker every few seconds and after a while turns off with a flashing red light. I still need to do a bit more troubleshooting but figure I may as well start looking at options for a replacement.

Can you give some recommendations to look at and let me know your best Boards price 😁? Good bang for buck is always appreciated.

My existing setup was connected to an even older JBL Northridge E Series 5.1 speaker set that I bought probably 18 years ago from Peats when they used to be on Parnell street in Dublin. (E80 floor standers, e20 book shelf, EC25 center and E150P Sub). These have served me well but I could be convinced to upgrade them if you made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

Thanks for the post. The 4200 was an amazing amp!

If you're looking for a direct swap, the new Denon AVCX4800 would be the best to go for. It's a powerful amp with 9.2 channel outputs. It's a bit more future proofed than the 4200 as well with Dolby Atmos, HDMI 2.1, eARC and 8k pass through. You can also download Dirac for it for more accurate set up (although you have to pay for this feature). It retails at £1649/1698. The euro price is working out a good bit better than the sterling price at the minute so it's a much better buy in euro:

If you're looking for a good upgrade in sound quality I would really recommend the Marantz amps - the new Cinema 50 is a great starting point - it's a 9 channel amp with similar features to the Denon but the sound quality on them is stunning:
